Do You Really Think So?

“I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me”

Philippians 4:13

We’re running a race set before us, moving full speed with God’s blessing overtaking us every step of the way.  Then suddenly WHAM! We hit a wall. The “wall” can be sickness, money troubles, relationship problems, unemployment problems, bad kid problems, family acting a fool problems….regardless of the form it takes the effect of the wall is always the same…it stops you cold!

The question I’m asking is, once you hit a wall like that what do you do? Do you curl up beside the wall and camp out? Do you hug the wall for dear life? Do you carry the wall around like it’s your friend? NO! You’ll be tempted to turn back in defeat, to do all the things mentioned above.  Don’t do it! God will enable you to break through that wall and keep going! Only if you really believe Philippians 4:13.

I’m not going to tell you it’s easy because it’s not. The truth is it’s hard but only if you do it on your own.  That’s why God says take His yoke it’s easy. You have to push on through the tough times if you’re ever going to have a breakthrough.

I’m not an athlete, but I can bet if we asked one they would tell us just that! Because if they’re a winner they’ve been there.  They’ve pushed their body to the max…everything aching and cramping.  Just when they felt like giving up they hear the coach say, “Come on! Move it!”

Athletes call that hitting “the wall” It’s the time when the body says, “No that’s all I can do! I can’t go any further! I quit!” But the seasoned athlete knows that “the wall” isn’t the end.  It’s a signal that he’s on the way to a breakthrough! If he’ll toughen up and push himself a little more, he’ll get  second wind…Suddenly, he’ll go even faster, faster than ever before! He’ll reach a level of excellence he couldn’t have reached any other way!

I’m writing from experience, when  you feel the worst, when failure is breathing down your neck, when people you thought were friends turn out to be enemies, when you just feel like crawling in the corner and bawling, press into the WORD like never before. Take a scripture and meditate on it…just one.  Take it, claim it, and believe it just as sure as the nose on your face.  Suddenly! Light breaking through the darkness will come pouring in like a flood!  All you have to do is punch a hole in the wall of problems.  Dig one tiny hole with your faith and the Word of God.  Keep tearing away at that hole.  Don’t quit! Before long the forces of God will come bursting through, demolishing every obstacle in your path! Once that happens, you’ll never look at that wall the same again.  It will only take one breakthrough to make a never dying, never quitting champion out of you!
